An estimated 2,000 people stood at the corners of El Camino Real and Embarcadero Road tonight (Sept. 23) for a candlelight vigil to support Palo Alto University professor Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault in the early 1980s. The crowd chanted things such as “We believe Christine” and “Ho, ho, ho, ho, Kavanaugh has got to go.” The crowd lined all four corners of the intersection and spilled into the parking lot of Town & Country Village Shopping Center. Here are some photos of the event taken by the Daily Post.
This is wonderful! She deserves our support!! Its atrocious what is happening to her. If there is another vigil or any other actions in support of her, how can those of us interested get to know about it?
Dr. Ford- thank you for your courageous actions on behalf of all women and in the interest of truth. I will be praying for you on Thursday!!
My deepest regards,
Irene
I am so disappointed in my fellow Palo Alton’s seeming disregard of fairness and intellectual analysis.
I’m scared and upset that an unsubstantiated allegation is being so extremely politicized. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not, but people are simply lining up by political affiliations that have nothing to do with the specifics of this case. People are being bullied into either supporting Dr. Ford or being branded as awful, Trump supporters.
I am a woman who supports women and has taken my own courageous steps against discrimination and abuse (at significant personal loss), but I am not naive enough to believe that all women are perfect or truthful or remember completely accurately. This local “support” of Dr. Ford is extremely misguided and may very well hurt efforts to support other women whom have suffered much more but whom do not represent a political agenda.
I am not supporting or refuting Dr. Ford’s allegation, I am simply saying it is an allegation that deserves fair consideration. And Brett Kavanaugh also deserves a fair review of the facts. What is NOT fair is condemning a SCOTUS nominee with an exemplary career simply because someone accused him of something, with no proof.
These people think this is some kind of leftist social event. They should spend more time looking at the facts of the issue before making complete asses of themselves, but, as usual, as soon as their knees start jerking, they march off to make posters and stand on a street corner.
It looks like they forgot their Pink Pussy Hats, too.
