San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus says she is fighting attempts to remove her from office and says her critics’ “time is ending.” But the deputies’ union says she fails to acknowledge her wrongdoings.

On Tuesday, Corpus sent an email to her employees to let them know that attempts to bring her down will not deter her.

“To those who try to divide us with fear and misinformation — your time is ending,” she warned.

The deputies’ union says her email is AI-generated and she sounds like a fake leader.

“The attempts to break me have done the opposite; they’ve strengthened my resolve. The louder the opposition grows, the more transparent their motives become. And while their influence may be disruptive now, it will fade. Because the truth always rises,” Corpus said in her email.

The union said that the email never mentions leadership, only that she is a leader.

“It is shown in presence, in action, in being available to answer the hard questions. Instead, she has been largely absent, rarely seen around the office, shielded by a growing entourage of attorneys and refusing to speak publicly about the very issues that have rocked this department,” the union said in an email to members.

The union said if she believes in fairness, Corpus would resign to allow the department to heal.

“Change is never easy, especially when it threatens long-standing power structures. What we are facing today is not rooted in genuine concern for this office, it’s about protecting a status quo that has served a select few while many of you were overlooked, undervalued or denied opportunities to grow,” Corpus wrote.

Corpus calls herself a reformer in her email.

“But what kind of reformer installs her romantic partner into a powerful, high-paying executive role within the department,” the union said in reference to Victor Aenlle, her former chief of staff.

Aenlle’s bio remains on the sheriff’s office website even though his contract was terminated by the Board of Supervisors on Nov. 13.

The two unions — the Deputy Sheriff’s Association and the Office of Sheriff’s Sergeants — and all five captains in the Sheriff’s Office have voted no confidence in Sheriff Corpus and have called for her resignation.

The deputies union, in its response on Tuesday, said Corpus doesn’t acknowledge that her vision of justice isn’t really justice.

Corpus says in her email that she won’t let employees be bullied or silenced.

“My door remains open,” Corpus said in her email.

    • Majority? You need to do the math! How many voted her into office vs who supported measure A? The County controlled illegal ballot?

      • You do know that more people cast votes to oust her that who actually cast votes for her in the election right?

      • “Fed up”: 82,622 voters put her in office on June 7, 2022. Then, on March 4, 2025, 90,900 voters voted “yes” on Measure A — which I make to be 8,278 votes higher.

Greetings from planet Terra. How does math work in _your_ world, sir?

The “illegal ballot” rhetoric remains laughable, given that such a process was implemented and court-approved by San Bernardino County a quarter-century ago (and also approved by then-AG Bill Lockyer) and then reimplemented in 2022 by Los Angeles County. Nonetheless, Sheriff Corpus has claimed illegality in two Superior Court lawsuits and one Federal one — achieving exactly nothing.

So, you can keep on claiming “illegal ballot” until the cows come home, but it’s not working, and lately far fewer people are being snowed by the propaganda, following Corpus’s lawyers’ court-filing blunder on June 27 that let key documentation reach the public.

  1. Wow!! The DSA response was perfection!! That so called email was absolutely NOT authored by Corpus! This is not how she speaks…ever. She just once again proves how corrupt, dishonest, disingenuous and evil she truly is! She is an absentee so called leader. Her day is coming! She will be DESTROYED in a Court of Law. Gosh…is orange a good color on her pasty skin? Sure hope so! Your day of reckoning is coming soon vindictive liar Corpus!!!

  2. It is funny reading the memo that she needs to remind everyone that “I am still the Sheriff” and other memos she has written have similar language. Is she that insecure in her position that she needs to remind the Deputies of this?

To hear the statement “Fairness must apply to everyone” from her is laughable. She has taken ZERO responsibility for any accusations that have been brought forward. Does she really want us to believe that EVERYONE is out to get her and that? She wants us to believe she sits atop the mountain of righteous while everyone else is in the valley of wrong?

  3. “My door remains open.” Reliable sources report her command staff down to the rank and file cannot access the 5th floor (where her office is) with their office card key. They are locked out of the 5th floor. Tell me it ain’t so Christina.

  4. Much of the department allows corruption within the officers and affects the citizens. Poor leadership is the root cause. I lived in San Mateo for decades – political views by the officers caused me personally harm and danger, let me just say black people would be very happy in San Mateo

  5. She hasn’t done anything wrong.Councels can become corrupt and abuse their authority, power is different, power absolute corrupts, absolutely. Authority is based on law and due process. Her personal life should is her own, personal sexual preferences are not clear, based on behavior effecting duties of a officer on the job

  6. She went after the union leader for ti.e card padding and this is the result. Arrest all those criminal union schmucks for extorting the tax payer with their BS over time schemes

    • You might want to actually read up on things before commenting. There was no fraud committed. Tapia was asked by Sheriff’s payroll to change the way he coded the time he spent doing union business, a change that Corpus was fully informed of. She then used his changing his coding as proof he was committing a crime she knew to be untrue and withheld the information that payroll had asked Tapia to do that from the lackey she assigned to do her dirty work.

  7. What about the people she supposedly serves? The local senator and local congress asked for her to resign. The City Councils in Redwood City, San Mateo, Belmont, San Carlos, San Bruno, Millbrae etc asked for her to resign. 90,000 people asked the board of supervisors to fire her.

Her OWN PEOPLE- THE DSA AND CAPTAINS voted no confidence and asked her to resign.

Three separate investigations revealed injustices and wrongdoing. A Grand Jury has indicted her and now she has 2 court trials that will eventually happen and ruin her!

Who does she think is supporting her? Who does she think wants her in office ? Why does she want to work in a County that does NOT want her to work there? What type of bipolar meds does someone have to take to think any of that memo to her office e was appropriate?

  8. Sheriff Corpus,

Your latest message to the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office strikes a tone of defiance and determination, but it does nothing to address the serious allegations facing you. While you state that your continued commitment is to reform and inclusivity, we are all left without clear answers on the issues that matter the most: your abuse of power, retaliation, and the erosion of public trust.

You speak to the concept of fairness. However it was YOU that hired Victor Aenlle, a close personal associate that you yourself admit you have known for 18 years, without proper vetting, handing him raises and a senior role while bypassing standard HR protocols and procedures. You claim to be a champion of transparency, yet you have retaliated against whistleblowers that include trusted San Mateo County and Sheriff’s Office employees who simply told the truth. You speak of fighting for the Office, yet it is obvious to everyone that you are fighting to preserve your own personal authority while the entire Sheriff’s Office suffers.

All the independent investigations and the grand jury’s findings weren’t political theater as you chose to describe them. They were the work of professionals committed to uncovering the truth. The Board of Supervisors unanimously (5-0) voted to remove you for a reason. This is not noise as you describe it. This is accountability.

Yes, you may have had 25 years of service with the Sheriff’s Office. No one is disputing your advocacy for inclusion. However, when leadership is muddied by misconduct and personal entanglements, it’s not about what you’ve done, it’s about what you’re doing now. The Sheriff’s Office should be an example of integrity and not controversy.

It is admirable that you say you are standing firm in the face of adversity. Respect. Members of law enforcement have to do that every day. Much Respect. But ignoring legitimate concerns, silencing critics, and dismissing community voices is not leadership. It’s a failure of it.

It is time to step down in order to begin the process of re-building this Office and for the wellbeing of those who serve it and the community.

WE ALL deserve accountability, not just your empty promises and words.

P.S. Can you please stop the gaslighting.

  9. Just a bunch of the old Sheriff good old boys bitter that they’re buddy didn’t win they want to spend more money sending people to Indiana to arrest people who are building Batmobiles for the friends of the former Sheriff who lost

    • Hey Aenlle aka anonymous ,you gotta get a life man, this is embarrassing. How do you have the time to be reading these comments and responding. No one wants to hear your conspiracies. Focus on paying your legal bills. It’s over dude. You and CC deserve everything that’s coming to you. You’re

    • Victor, your lack of skill in report writing was a reason you failed FTO. This comment is a clear example of that inability to properly format a sentence.

  11. Is she off her meds? Sheriff Christy keeps wanting to remind us all that she is Sheriff and is fighting this “injustice “ to the end.
Let me remind her who she is .. she is a disgrace, an adulterer, a pathological liar, a perpetual victim.

Not one ounce of accountability.she’s incapable of it.
Christy has no issue looking at people with a straight face and repeatedly LIE, even when the proof of her dirty deeds out for all to see. Perhaps she has convinced herself thar she is the modern Mary Magdalen?
Let’s hope this process is expedited to remove her. Her pinched face belongs in a mug shot.

  12. “delusional”
    “sociopath”
Amazing what unions do to the minds of ignorant readers!
The board of supervisors also in the pocket of the unions will cost our county millions when this is all over

    • This article could easily reflect on the union’s behavior as well, with their selective representation and “trigger” filled responses. People in SMC are probably even more sick of the unions and their hypocrisy, than they are of their Sheriff.

  13. Her actions and her demeanor show her true character, she has refused to answer questions and is acting like a narcissist. I regret voting for her and support for her to be removed.

  14. I’m afraid this angry “Leader” would attempt to do something sinister to the SMPD force. So, you better watch out and be alert during this last stage of her removal process.

  15. She’s in denial and s/b terminated immediately. It’s been long overdue. It’s surprising that HR wast in top of the nepotism, mismanagement, and incompetence.

  16. San Mateo County not only got the first Latina Sheriff but the first ChatGPT Sheriff in the Nation! The Sheriff’s Office is literally being run by AI. You can’t make this stuff up.

    • Hey Robert

You don’t realize Christy hired her original executive team and then turned on them when they tried to follow policies and procedures and questioned her on her unethical behaviors allowing Aenlle to overstep his authority, was privy to confidential files and ignoring complaints that resulted in the first HR investigation. Corpus promoted all of the captains that now have no confidence in her. An ENTIRE department and community saw the the truth. There is no reform or political motivation. The motivation is to stop corruption and unethical behaviors that violate policies.

If you understand civil rights – you would see that PERB violations have been committed by Corpus. There are emails, texts and videos to prove she was aware of wrongdoing. Her political game is to prolong these so called games where she will be testifying under oath in front of a judge and seorn testimony of witnesses. This is something she supposedly has been looking forward to doing — tell her side to let the public see. The truth is she is running scared, not working, postponing every possible opportunity to tell anything. She has admitted NO wrong! A letter like that may have been better received last summer when people were begging for her to help and she IGNORED everyone except Aenlle. She is attempting to publicly defame good people amd continues to protect Aenlle, her executive that she vacationed with in Hawaii.

When masses of people have testified now to wrongdoing, how can anyone still believe this garbage reform message out of Corpus mouth. I was excited too when she came into office and i too once believed she was going to have a great term. Guess what? I personally saw what she is capable of doing when Aenlle tells her to turn on someone. It is far scarier than you think. She is being controlled by a man who is unqualified and unethical and has power issues. There may be a much larger scheme being hidden here and hopefully it is someday revealed.

Any normal person would not be motivated to fight this and ignore the community, the union, the county employees, the public. Normal people would not want to continue to pretend this is what a Sheriff is. She doesn’t deserve that badge anymore. She has allowed all of this chaos by not resigning.

It is infuriating someone can’t just fire a Sheriff that it takes this much money, time, investigations, court involvement, lawyers to get a Sheriff out. The voters legally voted for a legal San Mateo Charter amendment. Measure A was legally certified into the CHARTER giving the Board of Supervisors power to enact Removal proceedings. There is no bias just honest people sharing wrongdoing. And just the same, Corpus publicly defames Mueller and Corzo and Callagy for trying to help county employees. Corpus is grossly negligent and invokes evil into the world around her.

See through these lies. Corpus is only trying to get people to act so she can place more people on leave. She is looking for more examples because she does not have a viable story at this time. Read her own testimony it sounds like a bumbling crazy person.

  17. “Anonymous” and a few other commenters have obviously just crawled out from under a rock…or are Dr. Vicky…or both! For God’s sake, stop defending the indefensible! You are the minute minority and are either completely uninformed or you have some unholy alliance with this corrupt, destructive administration.

And I concur with “Santos”…when this debacle finally results in the inevitable forced removal of Christy from the office she never deserved to be in, ain’t no way she’s going to say “Ok, you win” and pack up her office and quietly leave. She is going to create some catastrophic event and we can only hope that no one is put in harm’s way when it happens. Her continued delusional stance is frightening in its departure from reality. I do believe she and Victor are capable of doing something sinister and just hope NOT to be right about that!

  18. “SF Ray of Light”: You thought that, but apparently not.

Quoting a 2023 profile/interview: “Outspent almost 4-to-1, Corpus defeated Bolanos by nearly 14 points, a substantial and convincing victory. She is the first female and Hispanic sheriff in San Mateo County’s 167-year history. Along with Yesenia Sanchez, voted into office in Alameda County last June, Corpus is one of the first two Latinas ever elected sheriff in California. She is scheduled to be sworn in on January 3. […] Corpus can trace the precise moment she decided to enter law enforcement. The daughter of immigrants from Nicaragua and Mexico and raised by a single mom, she worked a variety of jobs, including babysitting and helping her mother clean the skyboxes at Candlestick Park.”

  19. Corpus is beyond delusional. Sounds like she is threatening her “critics,” but her critics are good people who have the courage to stand against her unlawful and tyrannical behaviors. If anyone’s time is coming to an end it’s Corpus’. Soon she’ll be removed from office, facing a significant number of civil and criminal judicial matters, flat-ass broke and likely without her government pension. Oh…and without her miniature boy-toy by her side. She’s nothing but deserving of the bed she’ll be forced to lie in (alone).

  20. Quite possibly Corpus and Aenlle could have planted tiny listening devices or other ways of checking emails and texts on company phones.

The listening devices is an interesting concept because private conversations would be completely illegal to share in court and also impossible to use as evidence. If Aenlle really did run a PI company I wouldn’t put anything past that guy. He did leave with a brown bag in mid 2025 when the post publication came out on the peeing puppy.

That would mean no where in the building is safe for open discussion nor anywhere in an patrol car..: just saying they would stoop that low. They are already trying to use evidence from social media which is where some/most of that testimony are from.

So let me ask you this- when you find out none of the deputies or sheriff staff are posting those and yet her reactions are to retaliate on her own people from those- will that change anything? She will likely never admit wrongdoing and continue on her insecure career path.

Every memo, every email she looks for a knee jerk reaction and tries to catch people doing new things. These unknown haters drive Aenlle more crazy and cause all of these delusional conspiracy theories to fill the head of Corpus. She lost her solid Executive team and since Hsiung and Monaghan left the entire Sheriff office has imploded under the Aenlle regime. Interesting there is proof Aenlle is a problem a big problem since 2023 and how it manifested and grew with Corpus allowing it.

Let us hope no court delays anymore hearings. This disfunction needs to end

  21. Interestingly, in 7/23/25 response papers filed by the Keker firm in the court’s 25-CIV-04319 case is a County assertion of the “Doctrine of Unclean Hands” against Corpus in that court action. The Unclean Hands legal theory essentially prevents one party in a lawsuit from receiving equitable relief from the other party when the first party acted unfairly, dishonestly, or in bad faith in the matter before the court.

At its heart, the Doctrine of Unclean Hands means that if someone is seeking relief from a court to resolve a conflict or dispute, yet the party asking the court to intervene has themself engaged in misconduct related to the subject of the dispute, the court may deny them the help they seek. In other words, the Doctrine of Unclean Hands is based on a fairness principle meaning that those who seek justice for themselves must also be willing to act justly to others.

If the Corpus Cartel members have done anything very consistently, they have individually and collectively demonstrated repeatedly that they are not willing to act justly to others. Not to the courts themselves. Not to those they work with in any level. Not to the labor unions. Not to the Board of Supervisors. Not to those in their care in the jails. Not to the voters. Not to the employees of SMCSO. Not to the members of the community at large. There can be no doubt that Corpus and all of her Cartel members, from her Transition Team to those in her Executive Team, have “Unclean Hands.” These are deliberate choices made by them each day.

  22. Well, Corpus- Your memo went over like a fart in church. Another failed attempt at forcing BS down the throats of the Sheriff department staff.

Only memo people want to read is your resignation letter. Noone cares about the insane efforts Corpus has fighting Measure A, the Grand Jury and the VOTERS!
