A man was arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual battery after he allegedly chased a woman in downtown Palo Alto telling her that he wanted to kiss her bottom, police said yesterday.

Reginald Tyrone Barnett, 36, of Oakland, was arrested around 7:13 a.m. Sunday.

The woman, who is in her 20s, told police that she was walking north on Waverley Street across Lytton Avenue when a man ran toward her, bent down near her bottom and told her that he wanted to kiss it.

She ran away, but the man chased after her repeating that he wanted to kiss her bottom, police Agent Heather Souza said.

Police found Barnett nearby and arrested him in connection with the battery attempt.
