A Mountain View man was arrested yesterday (May 13) for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl who he met on a dating website, police said yesterday.
Sean Muilenburg, 46, was arrested after the girl was reported missing from her home in Sunnyvale around 2 a.m.
Officers found that the girl had been text-messaging with someone who lived on Chesley Court in Mountain View’s Waverly Park neighborhood.
Police went to the house and intercepted Muilenburg as he was allegedly returning from dropping the girl off at her home.
Detectives learned that the two met on a dating site and exchanged cellphone numbers. Police declined to name the website. Muilenburg is accused of picking the girl up at a park in Sunnyvale, driving her to his home and engaging in “non-consensual sexual acts” with her.
He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of rape of a child under 14 years of age and lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14.
Muilenburg is being held without bail. He attended Mountain View High School and Foothill College, according to his Facebook profile.
The way the man communicated with the girl made detectives concerned that there may be additional victims.
Anyone who knows someone who may be a victim of Muilenburg has been asked to email Detective Temo Gonzalez at [email protected].
