A customer at the Apple Store in downtown Palo Alto recorded a Black Friday heist by two men, and the video shows the thieves ripping iPhones off the cords while employees usher customers out of their way.
“Should we stop them?” one customer can be heard asking in the crowded store.
“Let them go,” an employee said.
As the thieves made their way around the display tables, the employees moved customers away.
One of the thieves “made a general statement to the crowd of physical violence” toward anyone who attempted to stop them, escalating the crime from a shoplift to a robbery, police said.
The thieves got away with about $35,000 worth of phones and laptops, police said.
They fled in a red Mazda hatchback and were last seen by a security guard driving north on Highway 101 on Friday around 4:30 p.m.
Police Capt. James Reifschneider said police are aware of the video that is circulating.
The one-minute video was first posted on the app TikTok, where it has over 2 million views. It was then re-posted to other social media platforms.
Hope that Apple can track the location of their own devices and stop criminal activity.
I bet Apple will brick all those devices. So they are not losing much.
Should be capital offense
If u shot one, they would stop
I hope apple can track these idiots.
They need a net at the door that drops down and catches them.
How did a security guard in downtown Paly see someone fleeing NB on 101? Did the security guard chase them in their car and then stop the chase at 101? The Apple store is a couple miles from 101 so it isn’t like you can see it from the store
I’ll save this video and show all the Americans who come to me with comments about criminality in Brazil.
Anyway, hopefully police will catch these guys.
