As the nation watched the presidential inauguration, a much smaller transfer of power was nearly derailed after a former Menlo Park mayor did not want to leave a regional water agency’s board after she was replaced.
At its Dec. 15 meeting, the Menlo Park City Council decided that current Councilman Ray Mueller would represent the city on the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA), replacing former councilwoman and mayor Kirsten Keith. However, because of the agency’s board rules, Keith was still set to be on the board until June 30. The board’s appointments run four years.
