Palo Alto police are searching for a man who went into the women’s restroom at the Verve Coffee Shop, 162 University Ave., and looked at a woman using the toilet.

The peeper was getting coffee at the counter when the victim went into the restroom on Monday afternoon, police said. While she was using the toilet, she heard someone else come in the bathroom and enter the stall next to her.

She saw that the person appeared to be wearing men’s shoes.

As she stood up from the toilet, she looked behind her and noticed the suspect’s head underneath the stall divider looking in her direction, according to police.  She screamed at the man and ran out of the restroom and out of the coffee shop.

The incident was reported to police at 1:47 p.m. Monday, and the caller said it had happened about 10 minutes earlier, putting the time at 1:37 p.m.

The victim described the suspect as an Indian male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a thin build.  He was wearing a black jacket with a small white logo on the chest, dark-colored jeans, and black running shoes.  He was wearing a black backpack and had short, spiked hair.

  1. If it was an all gender restroom, well, can happen, everyone knows how Adam and Eve look like… Some women do dress in an impious way… We know that some women overreact and do like to use the harassment card… In this country restroom doors are built in a way so that everyone can look inside, for “security” reasons… Maybe it also would be better to have more mixed schools, not just girls schools…
