Two bodies have washed up on beaches in San Mateo County in three days, and one of them has been identified.
On Sunday at 12:44 p.m., a visitor found a body at Pescadero State Beach. The body was clothed and “appeared to have been in the water for some time,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
On Friday, a state parks employee discovered a male body at San Gregorio State Beach, a few miles north of Pescadero beach. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said the individual was clothed and “appeared to have been in the water for some time.”
The victim was identified by the Coroner’s Office at Florentino Pasco Jr., 36, of Stockton, who had been reported missing on Friday at Tunitas Creek Beach.
Deputies were called to Tunitas Creek Beach on Thursday at 5 a.m. on a report of a man who was in the water and “distressed,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Pasco had wandered off at 4 a.m. and didn’t return, deputies said.
The sheriff’s office, Coast Guard and Harbor Patrol searched the area with a helicopter, boat and drone but couldn’t find Pasco.
