A Menlo Park biotech executive was cited for allegedly throwing a cup of hot coffee at a Palo Alto parking enforcement officer who had just written him a ticket, police said yesterday (Oct. 5).
David Allen Stamler, 56, was cited around 6:54 p.m. on Sept. 25 for throwing coffee from a moving vehicle at the officer on the 600 block of Alma Street, near Hamilton Avenue.
The coffee hit the officer, but did not hurt him, police Agent Mariana Villaescuso said. Stamler was cited and released for battery on a peace officer.

Stamler, a medical doctor educated at the University of Chicago, was named the chief medical officer and senior vice president of clinical development of Melbourne-based Prana Biotechnology in May.
Since 2008, he has held similar positions at Teva Pharmaceuticals, Auspex Pharmaceuticals and XenoPort.
