Two men that were cited and released for having meth at Stanford were arrested an hour later for allegedly stealing copper from the roof of a building, police said.
Francisco Mendoza Jr., 23, and Luis Alberto Hernandez Garcia, 29, both of Mountain View, were cited for possession of meth on the 400 block of Panama Mall at 8:49 a.m. on Sept. 29, police said.
The men were arrested at 9:38 a.m. for burglary along with Melissa Silvia Vega, 22, of San Francisco, police said.
The trio stole copper from the roof of the building in the early morning hours and then returned to retrieve the copper when they were arrested, police spokesman Bill Larson said in an email Tuesday.

Maybe we should reconsider the wisdom of releasing charged criminals without bail.
