A Caltrain hit a car that had been stopped on the tracks on Alma Street in Palo Alto.
The crash happened around 6:15 p.m., snarling evening traffic along Alma and the train tracks.
The driver is reported to have minor injuries as a result of the crash, said Palo Alto Lt. Joel Hornung.

How clueless do you have to be to pull up right behind stopped traffic leaving you on the tracks? This person shouldn’t be driving. They’re a danger to everyone.
I was 10 feet away from that car on my bike waiting for the train to pass so I could cross over the tracks. There are always security people now at that crossing yet I see them on their phones and not looking at the tracks. I am on that intersection almost daily on my bike and I could easily walk down the tracks and nobody would notice. Had the security person been paying attention , he could have gone to that car and had him move. The car in front of him had plenty of room to move forward to allow that car to get off the tracks. I was yelling at the man to honk his horn at the woman in front of him so she would move her car and although his window was rolled down, he could not hear me. I feel that the security people who are stationed at the tracks should be paying closer attention and monitoring the tracks more diligently. And all the time I’ve been paying attention to them there was only one that stood at the edge and was watching if anyone was on the tracks.
