A 75-year-old bicyclist has died from to his injuries after being hit by a car in Woodside, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said today (May 11).
The bicyclist died after sustaining serious injuries from a May 1 accident, Sgt. Philip Hallworth said
The bicyclist was struck near the 1400 block of Portola Road at around 12:15 p.m. when deputies responded to a 911 call, according to Hallworth. Paramedics arrived, and found the bicyclist unconscious but alive, Hallworth said. The Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team also responded to the scene and is still investigating the incident.
The driver involved cooperated with investigators, who do not think drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
The bicyclist was sent to the hospital, and the sheriff’s office learned today that he had died. His name has not been released by the coroner’s office pending next of kin.
