Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said today she will run for re-election to another term in Congress as Democrats work to win back the majority in 2024.

Pelosi, 83, made the announcement before labor allies in the San Francisco district she has represented for more than 35 years.

“Now more than ever our City needs us to advance San Francisco values and further our recovery,” Pelosi said in a tweet. “Our country needs America to show the world that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for ALL. That is why I am running for re-election — and respectfully ask for your vote.”

First elected to Congress in 1987, the Democratic leader made history becoming the first female speaker in 2007, and in 2019 she regained the speaker’s gavel. — By the Associated Press

  1. Whether you agree/disagree with her politics, or you couldn’t care less one way or the other because you don’t vote, it’s a good idea to retire at a normal age. Your “golden years” should be enjoyed. What’s up with working until you’re 101?

  2. Go all the way back to the 1950’s. The Getty’s, Pelosi’s, Feinstein’s, Brown’s and Newsom’s. California Aqueduct project to the development of Squaw Valley and the hits keep coming. Plumpjack? Amazing how they got permits to build their boutique hotel in Tahoe. They all get rich, the people of California get left holding the bag.

  3. If she wins, she gets another two years where she will have a driver. If she loses, her husband has to drive, which might not be a good idea.
