Gunman at large after shooting five people

A gunman who is at large wounded four men and a juvenile who were drinking on a sidewalk at about 4:30 a.m. today (May 7) in Redwood City’s Palm neighborhood, police said.

All five were taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.

The gunman’s identity is unknown to police.

He used a 9mm handgun, police said.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of Redwood Avenue, west of Woodside Road and southwest of El Camino Real.

  1. Drinking on the sidewalk at 4:30 in the morning? Kids hanging around drinking are often a prelude to trouble. It seems like this should have attracted the attention of the police.
