Over half of East Palo Alto’s residents don’t feel safe drinking their tap water, forcing them to boil their water or spend a chunk of monthly budgets on bottled water, according to a survey by the nonprofit Nuestra Casa, which is trying to solve the water contamination problem.

For instance, Ana Huerta spends about $80 a month to buy six to eight cases of water. Her water at home isn’t always clear, but instead white or grayish, she told the Post through a translator. She uses the water to shower …
