Unusual spike in violent crime – Stabbings, shootings, street attacks

The mid-Peninsula normally has a low crime rate. But in the past two weeks, there’s been an uncharacteristic spike in violent crimes.

Menlo Park Fire Chief Harold Schapelhouman said in a memo Tuesday that his firefighter-paramedics have responded to three violent incidents during that period — a double murder in East Palo Alto, the stabbing of a 7-Eleven clerk in Menlo Park and a bloody early-morning melee in unincorporated Redwood City that left two people dead.
