A man who tried to meet up with a 13-year-old boy he met online has been arrested by Redwood City police in a sting, a prosecutor said.
Edgar Razona, 39, of San Mateo, contacted a police officer posing as a 13-year-old on Grindr, a site that caters to gay men, said Chief Deputy District Attorney Shin-Mee Chang. Razona thought the boy was in high school and asked him for a “sexy picture,” Chang said. The boy responded that he was 13.
The two began chatting, with Razona sending the boy sexually explicit videos, and the two planned to meet up, Chang said.
That led to Razona being arrested on Wednesday at Redwood Creek Inn at 1090 El Camino Real, according to police.
Razona was charged on Friday with five felonies related to the explicit messages and attempted meet up.
He remains in jail in lieu of $100,000 and will be back in court on Wednesday.
