In the race for Palo Alto School Board, a slate nicknamed “JAR” was in the lead as of 10 p.m.
That’s Josh Salcman, Alison Kamhi and Rowena Chiu.
Chiu promised to shake things up, Kamhi is focused on student safety and Salcman wants the school board to be more available.
All three candidates were endorsed by the teachers union and board member Shana Segal.
Nicole Chiu-Wang, who also ran in 2022, was in fourth place last night, behind Salcman.
Chiu-Wang said she wants to make transitional kindergarten a stronger program.
Chris Colohan, who has a focus on elementary math and the budget, was in fifth place last night.
The winners will replace outgoing board members Todd Collins, Jennifer DiBrienza and Jesse Ladomirak.
Chiu-Wang and Colohan were endorsed by Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, the school employee’s union and former school board members Liz Kniss, Barbara Klausner, Gail Price and Cathy Kroymann.
Board member Shounak Dharap endorsed everyone but Chiu.
