Christina Laskowski, the former chair of the San Mateo County Republican Party and a current candidate for the San Mateo-Foster City School District, has died. Laskowski was 57. Laskowski died at California Pacific Medical Center on Oct. 23. Her friend, and current county Republican Party chair, Anna Cheng Kramer, described Laskowski as a lively and fun person.

Laskowski was an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco, where she taught an entrepreneurial marketing and planning class. She was also running to represent Area 3 of the San Mateo-Foster City School District and lived in San Mateo.

Kramer met Laskowski in 2016 and had just seen her for Kramer’s birthday and said she seemed fine then, saying her death was very sudden.

Kramer said Laskowski was beginning orientation for the board position and was very excited to get involved.

“She was really excited, education is her love, she loves educating people,” Kramer said. “So it’s a huge loss for the community and I know she would have loved it. It feels so sad we don’t have her.”

Laskowski led two internship programs, hosted speaker events and led an effort with the group that tried to recall Gov. Gavin Newsom.

Kramer remembered when Laskowski was the chair of the county Republicans and they had 10,000 door hangings for volunteers to place. Kramer said she was impressed that Laskowski motivated volunteers to hang the literature on doors.

“She was always so lively at the events and friendly to everyone,” Kramer said.

Her cause of death wasn’t announced. She is survived by her husband Daniel and their two sons.

A celebration of life will be Monday at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco at 650 Parker Ave. with visitation at 1:15-2:15 p.m. and a funeral mass from 2:30-3:30 p.m.
