Palo Alto City Council voted tonight (Dec. 11) to give raises to City Manager Ed Shikada and City Attorney Molly Stump.
Shikada’s salary will go from $381,872 to $408,096, and Stump’s salary will go from $335,750 to $359,258, according to their new contracts.
Their health insurance, pension and housing benefits will stay the same.
Everyone voted in favor of Stump’s raise, and only Councilman Greg Tanaka voted no for Shikada.
“The reason why is I think there needs to be more connection between pay and performance,” he said.
Council recommended the 7% raises based on merit after evaluating Shikada and Stump in private meetings.
Absolutely absurd.
Why shouldn’t California’s nicest city have the highest paid city manager… in the world, lol? Tanaka was right. He won’t beat Sam Liccardo or Rishi Kumar, but he’s still right.
I’ve always wondered why city managers (in every city) are grossly overpaid. The make more than some doctors and lawyers.
A Superior Court Judge in California makes $231,174.00 a year. What a joke…
Is Greg Tanaka the only one in PA paying attention?
President Biden only makes $400,000.00
“what a joke” indeed.
A joke on residents who don’t read pay attention.
