Palo Alto police said they are investigating an incident of vandalism as a possible hate crime against people from India.
Police received a call on Thursday morning reporting the fresh vandalism in the Lot S parking garage at 445 Bryant St. The offensive writings were found inside the public restroom on the ground floor.
The writings were done with a black marker. Police said all of the comments were directed against people from India. A city Public Works crew removed the writings.
Police believe the crime occurred sometime after Wednesday at noon since that was the last time city employees checked the restroom.
