A mother and father were killed — and their twin 7-year-old daughters injured — when their car was hit by teenagers who were drag racing in Redwood City, the San Mateo County Coroner said Sunday.

Grace Spiridon, 42, and Gregory Ammen, 44, both of San Carlos, died in the crash on Friday night, according to Coroner Robert Foucrault.

The family was turning onto El Camino Real from Finger Avenue when they were clipped by the boys’ car that was headed south, according to Foucrault.

That spun the family’s car around. The car turned on its side and caught fire.

Police arrived at 7:56 p.m. and used their extinguishers to put out the fire.

The parents were killed and the girls were taken to Stanford Hospital.

The 7-year-olds, Madison and Olivia, lost their parents. However, their injuries are described as minor.Relatives have set up a GoFundMe site for them at https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-for-madison-olivia.

The three boys in the other car — a 17-year-old driver and two passengers, each 15 — went to the hospital, too. The boys’ injuries were not considered life-threatening.

  1. [Obscenity] don’t waste the court time or the jury’s time. They were drag racing and knew it was against the law and still did it. It’s no brainer. Murder in the first degree [Obscenity].

      • Oh Please!!! How ridiculous and insensitive. YES, they should be tried as adults. Maybe this will make the next idiot think twice before being so f****** stupid. They are plenty old enoiugh to know that stupid actions can have dire consequences.

    • “Don’t waste the court time or the jury’s time”? Looks like the commenter likes the idea of lynching, since his point is exactly what lynchers argued to justify lynching. Is this a failure of education, a case of repugnant morals, or both?

  2. Such a hearbreaking loss. I’m speechless. Reckless driving of teenagers is horrifying and must stop. Sending prayers to the family. May the souls of the parents rest in peace. <3
