Macy’s security officer hit, sprayed; 3 women arrested

By the Daily Post staff

Palo Alto police last night (April 5) arrested three women suspected of hitting and pepper spraying a Macy’s security officer at the Stanford Shopping Center.

In the 7 o’clock hour last night, a Macy’s “loss prevention officer” attempted to stop three women who were leaving the store with merchandise without paying, police said.

Once outside, the security officer confronted the women and asked that they return the merchandise, but they refused, according to police.

One of the three pulled out a can of pepper stray and attempted to spray the security officer, police said. The other two punched him in the face and head.

The trio then got in a vehicle and fled, while the security officer called police. He complained of pain to his head but declined medical attention.

Police stopped then car as it was leaving the shopping center and were able to detain the people inside without any problems.

Inside the car were the three burglary suspects along with three girls ranging in age from 7 months to 17 years, police said. Police also found the can of pepper spray and the stolen clothing.

Police said they arrested and booked:

• Alexis Quiroz, 22, on felony charges of robbery, conspiracy, and being a convicted felon in possession of pepper spray;

• Salena Quiroz, 21, on felony robbery and conspiracy;

• Leah Perez, 22, on felony and conspiracy.

The three are from Sacramento.

Police said the three juveniles were released to a family member.

  1. Could having local police enforce the law at the Mall be the answer?

    As long as it’s been declared open season, we will continue to attract crime tourists from Oakland, Sacramento, etc.

  2. California people love one-party Democratic machine policies – free, open, no-consequence everything but not the results. Crimes without punishment means you have to accept theft and assault as part of the mall experience – the new ‘Woke’ normal.

  3. Instead of stealing and embarrassing themselves, other immigrants and their parents :facepalm–I hope these kids can turn their lives around. They have so much potential, and so many opportunities. IF they are guilty.

    As for the business, I’m sure it is infuriating, but they have to respect the non-thief customers and protect their employees. The guard could have been killed.

    There must be better options.

    Insurance or the casualty loss deduction. Redesigning the store so it is hard or impossible to steal goods. Closing or moving this location. Offering online alternatives. Macys has an amazing website, by the way.

    Running people down is unwise. Look at South Korea. Last year, some overzealous employees ran down a Chinese lady and accused her of shoplifting.

    The woman turned out to be a diplomat’s wife. She physically assaulted the shop girls. She then had a blood pressure episode that put her in the hospital.

    Months later, officials in China said they found Coronavirus on Korean clothes…(lol so petty). Now imports of Korean clothing have slowed to a trickle. The losses must be enormous. It looks like cause and effect in my humble opinion.
