A 34-year-old woman was killed on Highway 101 in a rollover accident in the middle of the night, the CHP reported.
The woman, who is from South San Francisco, hasn’t yet been publicly identified. At a few minutes before midnight Saturday, she was traveling south on 101, south of Millbrae Avenue, when for unknown reasons she turned her Honda to the right, the CHP said. She hit a group of energy impact attenuators, the orange plastic cushions designed to slow a car headed into a pole or wall.
The collision caused her vehicle to rollover on its roof in the No. 1 lane (the lane farthest to the left), the CHP said.
A 33-year-old San Francisco man in a Land Rover traveling in the No. 1 lane hit the woman’s Honda. She was ejected and flew into a temporary concrete K-Rail.
Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
The crash closed Highway 101 for nearly 90 minutes.
