A man has been arrested for allegedly attacking his elderly parents at their Los Altos home and then hiding inside until a police dog bit him, police said.

Justin Ross, 42, had been arguing with his parents throughout Father’s Day at their home on Marich Way, police said.

After everyone drank some wine, Ross allegedly asked his parents if they had more alcohol and then began yelling and insulting them when they said no, according to the police.

Ross wouldn’t leave his parents’ room and allegedly pushed his dad to the ground and kicked him three times in the ribs and back, fracturing his dad’s right shoulder blade, police said.

Ross took both of his parents’ cell phones and the landline, police said. His dad went to a neighbor’s house to use their phone to call 911, police said.

Police Agent Brian Werner responded to the call with his police dog, Brock, and watched three officers spend around two minutes and 40 seconds to try to control Ross, according to the police report.

As the struggle continued, Brock bit Ross twice on the thigh for a total of 20 seconds, Werner said.

Multiple charges

Ross is facing charges for elder abuse likely to inflict great bodily harm or death, maliciously destroying a cell phone and resisting police.

Ross refused to come to the Palo Alto Courthouse on Wednesday and is scheduled to appear again today. Judge Nicole Isger set his bail at $30,000.
