UPDATE, MARCH 6 2:30 P.M. — The San Mateo County Health Department has approved the reopening of the market after work was completed to remove the rats and patch up holes in the building to ensure more rodents do not get in.
ORIGINAL MARCH 5 NOON — Rats were found at Cardenas Market in East Palo Alto, prompting its temporary closure, according to San Mateo County Health.
The Hispanic market at 1731 E Bayshore Road was closed by the San Mateo County Health Department on Tuesday, according to the county . The market failed inspection due to a rat infestation. The store will remain closed until a county inspector OKs reopening.
Cardenas, across the street from Mega Mart, sells produce, meat, seafood, fresh corn, and flour tortillas made from scratch, along with a variety of pastries and bread.

One wonders if the rats were unleashed by a competitor who wanted to get rid of a rival store.

How did they get rid of the rats? Aerosol spray of the entire facility?
Did they throw out all the food? Or check it for rat droppings?
