A Redwood City man who was arrested for robbing a teen’s $800 Balenciaga shoes and Valentino cologne pleaded innocent today (Dec. 29), a prosecutor said.

Andru Sheldon, 20, was arrested on Sunday after robbing a 15-year-old at Jack Farrell Park in East Palo Alto, and 30 minutes later, a 30-year-old woman in Palo Alto, District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

Sheldon was with three others when they approached a teenager at 10:16 a.m. and pulled out handguns, threatening him, Wagstaffe said. One of the men grabbed the teen’s iPhone and smashed it into the ground to delay calling the police, Wagstaffe said. The men then stole the teen’s $800 Balenciaga shoes, $120 Valentino cologne and $800 cash he had in his pocket, according to Wagstaffe.

All three men fled in a green Kia Soul SUV, and 30 minutes later, Sheldon attempted to take a purse from a 30-year-old woman at the intersection of Lytton Avenue and Webster Street, according to Palo Alto police. The woman negotiated with Sheldon and was able to keep some of her items in her bag, but he fled the scene, police said in a statement.

Police searched for the car and found it near the intersection of University Avenue and Woodland Avenue in Palo Alto. Officers were pursuing the SUV through the intersection of University Avenue and Donohoe Street when it struck another car and fled, according to police. The SUV stopped a short distance away, and two suspects escaped and Sheldon was arrested, police said. The SUV was reported stolen in Suisun City in Solano County.

Sheldon pleaded innocent today and is in custody on $5,000 bail, Wagstaffe said. He will be back in court on Jan. 9.

  1. “ He will be back in court on Jan. 9.”

Sheldon will be back in court many times. Wash, rinse, repeat. He has his whole life of crime ahead of him.

  2. A 15 year old wearing a pair of $800 shoes. Sporting a $120 bottle of Valentino cologne, and with 800 bucks in his pocket. Kinda raises an eyebrow or two.

  3. 5000 dollars bail? Let me get this right: he stole a car, robbed someone at gunpoint, and then robbed two others? WTF?! Why not a $100,000 bail? Why not $50,000? The criminal justice system is not protecting innocent people; it is encouraging criminals.
