Capt. Eamonn Allen is suing former San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus for ruining his reputation with a rumor about an alleged affair.
Allen, a captain in charge of law enforcement in Millbrae, filed a lawsuit on Monday (Dec. 22) against Corpus for allegedly telling another sergeant that he supposedly had an affair with associate management analyst and Corpus’ former friend, Valerie Barnes. Barnes also works in the sheriff’s Millbrae police bureau.
San Mateo County is also a defendant in the suit.
Corpus and Allen did not respond for comment.
Allen’s attorney, Young Park of the Justice For Workers firm, states that Allen was a “target of false and damaging accusations” circulated by Corpus and that these accusations have now affected his reputation within the sheriff’s office and community.
They also caused problems with his marriage, the lawsuit states.
Allen was blamed for being behind an Instagram account that “attacked” Corpus, according to the lawsuit.
Corpus was fired by the county Board of Supervisors on Oct. 14 for allegations of corruption, false arrest, retaliating against employees, and having a conflict of interest by having an affair with her chief of staff, Victor Aenlle.
Allen met with former Assistant Sheriff Sergio Enriquez on Oct. 9 regarding budget cuts and, without notice, was told that his position would change from captain to lieutenant, according to the suit. The change was described as a budget fix, and Allen would keep his captain’s salary, the suit said. Allen suggested other solutions, but they were dismissed.
The lawsuit doesn’t say how demoting Allen with the same salary would solve a budget problem.
Because Corpus was fired the same day Enriquez resigned, the change never happened, the suit states.
Corpus targeted Allen, the suit claims, because he was one of the captains who called for her to resign during a press conference (See earlier story).
Allen wants the county to pay him $15 million, according to the suit.
Allen’s lawsuit is the latest in a line suits filed against Corpus. Sergeants Joe Fava, Javier Acosta and Hector Acosta, Sheriff’s Food and Nutrition Services Director Ana Miramon, Deputies union president Carlos Tapia and former Capt. Brian Philip have sued Corpus.

The story of Corpus and her tiny paramour Victor is not over yet. The people of San Mateo County will be paying for their reckless misdeeds and bad conduct for years to come!
