The Jesuit Retreat Center of Los Altos, which is celebrating its centennial year, on Thursday awarded its San Inigo Award to Father Gregory Boyle, a Catholic priest of the Jesuit order and the founder and director of Homeboy Industries, the world’s largest gang intervention and rehabilitation program. The organization reduced gang violence in Los Angeles’ Boyle Heights neighborhood by treating gang members with compassion and giving them meaningful jobs.
