Trump administration revokes visas of Stanford students

The Trump administration has revoked the visas of four Stanford students and two recent graduates.

The move appears to be part of an effort by the administration to target pro-Palestinian activists at Columbia, Cornell, George Washington, Tufts and other universities. The administration claims those students were supporters of Hamas, which the U.S. has designated as a terrorist organization.

Stanford officials said they didn’t know why the visas of six current and former students were revoked. Stanford didn’t name the students and former students.

It was also unclear whether any students were detained by immigration authorities.

But last June, pro-Palestinian students occupied the president’s office, leading to arrests. Stanford said it would not allow some of the protesters to graduate. During the occupation, protesters broke doorframes and furniture, and they splashed fake blood throughout the building. Stanford estimated the cost of repairs at over $700,000.

Prior to the occupation of the president’s office, protesters pitched tents in White Plaza, holding the longest sit-in in Stanford history.

Stanford said it learned of the revocations during a routine check of SEVIS, a student database under the Department of Homeland Security that lists international student statuses.

“Stanford notified the students of the revocations and made external legal assistance available to them,” the university said on its website.

“Stanford deeply values its international community of scholars and remains committed to supporting the well-being of all members of our community. We understand that these developments may be deeply unsettling for members of our community,” the Stanford website said. It then offered places students could go for help.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said during a March 27 visit to Guyana that the U.S. has revoked 300 visas and would continue its evaluations, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“We do it every day. Every time I find one of these lunatics, I take away their visa,” Rubio said, referring to student protesters. “I hope at some point we run out because we have gotten rid of all of them, but we’re looking every day for these lunatics that are tearing things up.”

Rubio said the government canceled “primarily student visas” and “some visitors visas.” The group included cases “unrelated to any protests” that have to do with “potential criminal activity.”

  1. Voices of NAMCI applauds the revocation of visas for foreign nationals who led hateful anti-Israel protests at universities.

Let’s get real: Israel makes up just 0.16% of the land controlled by the Arab League. Yet these protestors ignore that fact, erase over 3,000 years of Jewish history, and pretend that the only “justice” is a map of Israel soaked in blood.

As Native Americans, Muslims, and Christians, we say clearly: You don’t get to protest on stolen land while denying another people their homeland. Your hate is not liberation—it’s historical erasure and modern incitement.
We stand for peace, truth, and coexistence.
To those who brought chaos, division, and dishonesty: Good riddance.

  2. Do we know if any of the Stanford students who had their visas revoked were involved in the occupation of the President’s office or broke anything? For all we know, the students were peaceful protesters of Israel’s continued killings of the Palestinian people. We know the student at Tufts (not “Tuffs”) was arrested right off the sidewalk by ICE agents in face masks for writing an op-ed piece critical of Israel. An op-ed piece!

Let’s be clear what these arrests are about. They are not arresting students charged with serious crimes involving violence. No, the government is targeting students critical of Israel and only Israel. You can criticize and make the worst accusations against any country, but say something AIPAC or the ADL dislikes, you could get your visa revoked. And it won’t stop there. The Columbia student arrested and sent to a detention center in Louisiana is a green card holder – a lawful permanent resident – and married to an American who is 8 months pregnant. Who will they come after next, naturalized citizens?

We learned from Congressman Massie of Kentucky that every member of Congress has an “AIPAC Person”. We know which country’s foreign leader received over 50 standing ovations from Congress last summer. Even the impending TikTok ban, forced sale has nothing to do with China. TikTok’s real crime was it allowed too many videos showing Israel’s brutal massacre of innocent Palestinians.

This is also a reminder that tax day is approaching and Israel needs money, so pay your taxes.

      • A lot of jews are outraged by Israel’s continued murder and occupation of the Palestinian people in Gaza. And isn’t it considered “anti-Semitic” to conflate criticism of Israeli policies with jews?

        • No, Alvin, Jews are outraged by the October 7th massacre by Hamas that took 1,200 innocent lives — the deadliest attack on Jewish people in a single day since the Holocaust. Obviously you’re unmoved by that attack like many antisemitic haters of Israel. I don’t need to argue with you about it. You said it in your own words.

  3. Aren’t these students entitled to due process? The Trump administration can’t just cancel their visas and send them home without some sort of airing of the charges!
