Three men who were part of an overnight cleaning crew have been arrested in a series of overnight restaurant burglaries in Palo Alto that netted $16,000, police said today.
Police said the three are accused of taking safes from:
• Local Union 271, 271 University Ave., on Dec. 23, taking a safe containing $5,000 cash;
• Nola restaurant, 535 Ramona St., on Dec. 26, taking a safe with $4,000 cash;
• Ettan restaurant, 518 Bryant St., on Jan. 28, taking a safe containing about $7,000 in cash.
Arrested were:
• Marcos David Umana Romero, 29
• Jose Roberto Rodriguez, 31, and
• Armando Aguilar Sevillas, 27.
All are from San Francisco.
Romero, Rodriguez and Sevillas had been subcontractors of a company that provided overnight cleaning services to all three restaurants, police said.
Detectives obtained arrest warrants for the trio and arrested them in San Francisco Thursday evening. They were each booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for three counts of commercial burglary and three counts of conspiracy (all felonies).
