In the face-off between two East Palo Alto colleagues, Councilwoman Lisa Gauthier was leading Mayor Antonio Lopez.
Gauthier, 59, was beating Lopez, 29, with 60.5% of the vote. Lopez had 39.47% of the vote with 9,219 votes as of 10 p.m.
Looking to replace termed out Warren Slocum and taking over his seat, Gauthier would represent her hometown of East Palo Alto along with Redwood City, North Fair Oaks and parts of Menlo Park.
With the seats opened by Gauthier and Lopez not running for reelection, East Palo Alto’s city council will have at least two new faces with Mark Dinan, Webster Lincoln and incumbent Carlos Romero were leading the race after last night’s 9 p.m. update.
Mark Dinan with 16.27%, Webster Lincoln with 16.19%, Carlos Romero 14.96%, wre followed by Deborah Lewis-Virges with 14.01% Maria Guadalupe Rocha with 10.65% Ofelia Bello with 9.90% Ravneel Chaudhary with 7.14% Dennis Scherzer with 4.94% and Gail Wilkerson with 4.93%.
