Superintendent Ayinde Rudolph will receive $98,259 to leave his position without suing the Mountain View Whisman School District, according to a separation agreement.

The payout equals three month’s salary for Rudolph, who was hired in 2015 and signed a three-year contract extension in June, bringing his salary to $366,915 plus benefits.

Rudolph had been on leave since Oct. 7, days after he announced the state’s Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team would be auditing the district for potential fraud.

Parents have criticized Rudolph for spending too much on contracts that don’t directly benefit students. He hired his former boss as his personal coach and brought in an “energy healer” to mediate with 159 employees for $121,150.

The board appointed Kevin Skelly, 63, of San Mateo, as interim superintendent on Oct. 22.

Rudolph announced his resignation on Friday, saying that he wanted to focus on his family after a recent health scare.
The district posted the settlement agreement with Rudolph’s signature on its website over the weekend.
Tomorrow, voters will elect three new board members and decide whether to approve the district’s parcel tax.

Rudolph agreed to pay off his home loan from the district by June 30. He will get a 4% retirement contribution and health insurance through January, the agreement says.

The payout will be sent to attorney Donald Velez in Walnut Creek, the agreement says.

  1. I’m not sure why MVWSD Board President Conley led the negotiation for such a generous “Resignation” agreement. It does seem quite humane to me that the ‘housing/district-backed’ mortgage agreement was continued to the end of June. This should allow the Superintendent to keep his kid in his MVWSD school until the end of the school year – and yet, I don’t see (as I read it) that it particularly adds any more risk for the District (us, the taxpaying Public).
