Police officer injured while attempting to stop suspected vandals at shopping center

Police watching a demonstration at the Stanford Shopping Center saw a woman spray-paint the front windows of the Apple Store, according to a police report.

When they went to arrest her, she ran away and tried to get into a waiting vehicle with a male driver, police said regarding the incident on Monday at 6 p.m.

As an officer tried to prevent her from getting in the vehicle, the driver pulled away, which caused the officer to fall. His hand was slammed by the car door and his foot was run over, according to police.

A witness told police the same woman also sprayed graffiti on the windows of the Sephora store.

That night in Berkeley, the two suspects were arrested with the help of police there.

Fatima Yahyaa, 26, of Berkeley was arrested for vandalism, conspiracy to commit a crime and resisting arrest. Trude Brading, 25, of Berkeley, was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit a crime and resisting arrest.
