Atherton police arrested someone after the town’s license plate cameras picked up a stolen car, Police Chief Steve McCulley said today (Aug. 19).
Police were notified of the car, stolen from San Mateo, at 6:50 a.m. today and quickly responded, arresting the person, whose name has not been released. However, police are recommending the District Attorney’s Office charge the person with auto theft.
Atherton has 51 license plate cameras posted around town, the most of any city in the area. Residents of the town pay for 30 of the cameras.
