Congresswoman Anna Eshoo today (Jan. 10) endorsed Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian to succeed her in the House.
Simitian, a longtime Palo Alto official, is one of 13 candidates in the March primary for the Palo Alto-based Congressional seat.
“There are many good people who are competing to succeed me in the Congress. I believe there is one who has the ability to best represent us: Joe Simitian. … He is a seasoned and effective legislator who has earned the support of over 150 locally elected officials.”
Simitian responded, “Congresswoman Anna Eshoo knows the people of our region. She knows my work. And she knows what it takes to get the job done in Congress. That’s what makes her endorsement solid gold! I’m enormously grateful.”

I guess Democrats don’t want to pass the torch to the next generation. Anna is 81 and Joe is 70+?
Yet another example of pols passing around offices like they own them. Nothing more than machine politics at play.
Glad that Eshoo endorsed the most qualified candidate who really cares about local residents anf who’s worked tirelessly for us.
Ronald Reagan warned us the most terrifying words are “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.” I’d rather a politician do nothing and forget me.
