A man who is suspected of committing a rape in Mountain View in 1999 has been found trying to cross back into the United States from Canada, police said.

He was detained in Michigan, and Mountain View detectives flew out to bring him back to Santa Clara County, police said.

They landed at San Francisco Airport at 10 p.m. on Tuesday (March 28), according to a log of police activity.

Police spokeswoman Katie Nelson didn’t have any further details about the case or the suspect because she said the sergeant was off duty. Nelson is not a sworn officer, while a sergeant would have access to the police report.
