A man was shot at the homeless encampment at the Ravenswood Triangle today (March 8), CHP said.

Police responded to the Ravenswood Triangle — which is bounded by Willow Road, Bayfront Expressway University Avenue and the railroad tracks — at 11:50 a.m., according to CHP Officer David LaRock. They found a man with a single gunshot wound to one of his legs.

The man was rushed to Stanford Hospital in critical condition.

LaRock said there is one suspect outstanding, and officers are investigating at the encampment.

This is not the first shooting that has occurred at the encampment, which has been mired by fires and other issues over the years. So much so that Menlo Park, Menlo Fire, Caltrains, CHP officials and some nonprofits have been working on what to do about the encampment, which can be as large as 70 people.

On Thanksgiving 2017, a shooting occurred at the encampment.
