A 13-year-old boy suffered little to no injuries after being hit by a car when he was riding his bike to school this morning in Los Altos Hills, a Santa Clara County sheriff’s spokesman said.
The boy was riding in the bike lane at West Fremont Road and Fremont Pines Lane when a car was backing out of a residential driveway and did not see him, hitting his bike and knocking him down, according to Santa Clara County sheriff’s Sgt. Reginald Cooks.
The accident happened near Gardner Bullis Elementary School.
Luckily, the boy was not seriously injured and was able to get up and walk to his mother who took him to a hospital for precautionary purposes, Cooks said.
Deputies from the sheriff’s office were on scene by 7:48 a.m. Cooks explained that there was tree coverage that blocked a clearer vision for the driver.
There was little damage done to the bike and no other injuries were reported, according to Cooks.
