Two men were shot and killed yesterday in East Palo Alto, and police are searching for the gunman.

At 8:11 p.m., police responded to a report of a car crash at 115 Gardenia Way.

Officers found Antonio Martinez Moradel, 23, of Oakland, and Roberto Velasquez Martinez, 23, of Chico, in one of the crashed cars, both suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Cmdr. Jeff Liu.

Paramedics arrived and provided medical aid to Moradel and Martinez, but both died at the scene, Liu said.

Police did not provide any additional information in an initial statement about the shooting. However, they ask that any witnesses or anyone who has any information about the shooting leave an anonymous voicemail or text at (650) 409-6792. They can also email [email protected] or call Detective Andrea Dion at (650) 853-7247.

This is the second homicide in East Palo Alto this year. On Jan. 28, Alexis Pulido Garcia, 28, of Hayward, but previously of East Palo Alto, was shot on the 900 block of Mouton Circle. No arrest has been made in that case.
