A man and a juvenile have been arrested in connection with a sale set up through Facebook Marketplace, police said.

David Torres Vasquez, 22, and a juvenile, both from East Palo Alto, arranged to meet the victim in Menlo Park on July 11, police said. But when the seller showed up, the teenage suspect appeared in a ski mask, threatened the seller with a gun, took the clothes and left, according to a statement from Menlo Park police.

Police found video footage from a neighbor’s camera that identified the model of the car, a white Chevrolet Silverado truck.

That same day, police saw the Silverado and pulled it over. Vasquez and the teenage suspect were wearing the stolen clothes and were arrested, police said.

Vasquez had been previously released on his own recognizance related to a different misdemeanor grand theft charge before the July 11 robbery.

In 2023, Vasquez stole an Apple iPhone in Redwood City that cost $1,099, according to police. Vasquez admitted to stealing the phone and had returned it to the police department. Vasquez appeared in court Tuesday and will be back on Sept. 15 for further proceedings.

The teenage suspect was booked into Hillcrest Juvenile Hall for the robbery and theft, police said.
