A man has sexually assaulted a woman in her 50s living in her RV by the city of Palo Alto’s golf course, police said.

The man in his 20s broke into the RV on Faber Place at Embarcadero Road on Sunday (June 1) between 6 p.m. and midnight, inappropriately touched the woman and then left, police said. A hospital worker reported the case on Monday (June 2) morning, police said.

Officers identified the man and sent the case to prosecutors to consider a charge for “felony assault with the intent to rape in commission of a burglary.”

Officers are not actively looking for the suspect at this time, Lt. Dave Lee said in an email.

  1. I thought this was a *SAFE* parking area for the homeless. Sure doesn’t sound safe to me. Do they call it *Safe Parking* so to fool the public into not objecting to these RV dwellers because everything will be OK???

  2. “inappropriately touched”

If he broke into her trailer, it’s a little hard to believe that he was looking for sexual satisfaction with a much older woman. More likely, he was looking for money or something to sell. But that doesn’t generate much of a headline, and it doesn’t get a 911 call response by a young, usually male, cop like an allegation of sexual assault. Nothing motivates a young man like the opportunity to dominate another man in a way that shows he acts like a man by protecting a woman.

Color me skeptical, but sex stories get attention, whereas more mundane but typical stories about addicts stealing for another fix just are not news.

These sex stories never have details. “Inappropriately touched!” What does that mean?… He effing broke into her trailer. Isn’t that the bigger crime?

Probably, we will never know. But the victim and the editor got our attention.
