‘Black Lives Matter’ lawn sign vandalized again

By the Daily Post staff

A woman in the 3300 block of Park Boulevard in Palo Alto told police that somebody changed the wording on her yard sign from “Black Lives Matter” to “Asian Lives Matter,” and police are investigating it as a “hate crime.”

She told police that somebody used an adhesive to cover the word “Black” with a piece of paper bearing the word “Asian” on April 5 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

When she attempted to remove the added word, it destroyed the sign, which she said was worth $10.

She pointed out that the sign had been vandalized twice before. In October 2021 and February 2022, somebody slipped an “Asian Lives Matter” sign over the resident’s sign, causing no damage, police said.

The woman reported the two prior incidents to police at the time.

Police said they believe all three incidents are related, but they don’t know why this residence is continuing to be targeted.
