The Menlo Park Planning Commission is considering development of a six-story apartment complex behind the former Comerica building at the corner of Crane Street and Oak Grove Avenue.
The commission may approve a proposal from Prince Street Partners to develop a 72-foot-tall six-story building, which would include 15 homes with one designated as low-income housing at 800 Oak Grove Ave. on Monday.
The ground floor would contain parking, and the five top floors would be for homes.
The development would also include renovating the former Comerica Bank building into an office building.
The apartment building would be in the parking space between the former Comerica and Crane Street Dermatology. Across parking lots the city wants to be redeveloped into subsidized housing.
The proposal is also a block away from the Fire Station 4.
This parking lot redevelopment is separate from the city’s plans to redevelop three downtown lots into up to 345-500 apartments.
That plan has landed on the ballot after merchants, landlords and residents banded together to put Measure P on the ballot, which requires the city ask for voter approval before developing the parking lots.
Review of other project
The planning commission on Monday will vote on this project and also discuss updated plans from Lane Partners for the redevelopment of SRI’s campus at 333 Ravenswood Ave.
That proposal increases the number of apartments from 800 to 1,082, reduce the amount of office space to 902,000 square feet and will include 40,000 square feet of retail.
