Trader Joe’s at the Town and Country Village in Palo Alto is closed today after a late-night fire.
A police officer reported the fire at 2:53 a.m. today (Aug. 19), and firefighters arrived five minutes later.
Deputy Chief Kevin McNally said the fire was in the frozen food section, but investigators are still looking into the cause and origin.
The fire was contained and extinguished quickly, McNally said.
Three engines and two trucks responded. County health inspectors were at the store today, and employees were throwing out food. A manager said the store won’t be providing more information.
