One of the most anticipated events in Palo Alto on Independence Day is the Chili Cook-Off in Mitchell Park. It features chili tastings, food trucks, live music and kids’ activities. Local teams compete for awards such as Best Overall, Best Vegetarian and People’s Choice.

People’s Choice: The Klemens Family
Best Spirit Award: Palo Alto Firefighters Local 1319
Best Decorated: Lonely Islander Chili
Best Vegetarian: Terrific Chili Champions
