A Menlo Park resident was on his way to work this morning when a truck rammed into his yard, he told the Daily Post.

The truck’s driver had a medical emergency and drove into the fences of three homes, stopping at 125 Oak Court at 10:25 a.m.

The owner of that house, Matt Burr, is the neighborhood pizza guy. He sells pizzas at Cafe Zoe at 1929 Menalto Ave.

“I opened the front door to a big white truck coming to a stop in my front yard,” Burr said.

The driver, 75, had started driving his truck down the street, but lost consciousness at a stop sign, said Menlo Park Fire District Fire Marshal Gage Schlice.

A city inspector was around the block at the time of the accident and was one of the first responders, according to Burr. One of his neighbors called the police, and medics arrived shortly, Burr said.

The truck, a Dodge Ram 2500, had destroyed the front side of his fence, his barbecue grill and a few smaller items he had in his yard, Burr said.

The truck also took out some posts that support the roof on the front porch of another home, Schlice said. He said firefighters replaced the post as a temporary solution.

One of his other neighbors, who was affected and is a customer of his, said he was thankful his dog was inside and not in the yard, Burr said.

Burr took the day off today to decompress and clean up after the incident, he said.

“It was a lot of confusion and trying to assess what was going on. Was he having a medical emergency? Was he having a heart attack? Had he died?” Burr said.

The man was conscious enough to turn off his truck by the time medics arrived, according to Burr. There was a passenger in the car, said Menlo Park police spokeswoman Nicole Acker. No one was injured, Acker said.
