Menlo-Atherton High School was put on lockdown this afternoon (Sept. 10) due to a threat to the school and a former student was detained, Atherton police said.

Someone called the police’s tip line to let them know that a former M-A student had posted “concerning content” online about the school, according to a notice sent out by police.

Police advised the school to lock down out of an abundance of caution. Police searched the campus and were able to detain the former student, whose name has not been released.

The investigation is still ongoing, but there is no further threat to the school, police said.

Laurel School’s lower campus at 95 Edge Road was also locked down due to its proximity to M-A.
