A Redwood City woman was sentenced today (April 14) to life in prison for her part in the murder of a man in East Palo Alto, a prosecutor said.
Alexis Yannei Bonilla-Falla, 31, was found guilty on Jan. 29 of the murder of Alexis Pulido Garcia, 28, which occurred during an attempted robbery on Jan. 28, 2020, said District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.
She and her alleged co-conspirator Anthony Alcantara Medina, 24, met with Gracia at 900 Mouton Circle to purchase marijuana. The transaction ended up being a robbery where Garcia was carjacked and shot in the neck, according to the DA.
Gracia was found with a gunshot wound at around 8 p.m. and died shortly after police arrived on the scene, Wagstaffe said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
That was the city’s first homicide of 2020, Police Chief Jeff Liu said at the time.
Bonilla-Falla and Alcantara Medina were arrested a year later after an investigation by East Palo Alto Police and the District Attorney’s office.
Alcantara Medina’s case is set for trial on September 22. He is currently in custody on no bail status, Wagstaffe said.
