December 16, 1937 – February 5, 2025
Philip W. Sheehan passed away on February 5, 2025, in Stanford, California, at the age of 87. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend, Phil will be remembered for his easy-going nature, playful wit, and genuine character.
Born on December 16, 1937, in San Francisco, California, Phil grew up in San Francisco and later in San Mateo. A graduate of Serra High School, he spent two years in the U.S. Navy before earning degrees from the College of San Mateo and San Jose State University. Phil worked in pharmaceutical sales with Marion Merrell Dow, where he developed lifelong friends amongst his colleagues. After retiring from pharmaceutical sales, he began a second career as a real estate agent with Alain Pinel Realtors.
Phil enjoyed serving in the community as a youth soccer coach, supporting the local Boy Scout troop (he loved backpacking in the Sierras), and as an active church member. His love of travel was strong. Phil’s adventures took him to six continents, including many trips to Mexico, Europe and Southeast Asia. In retirement, he enjoyed his weekly golf foursome. His real passion was gathering with friends, for any reason at any time. Phil’s ability to connect with others and sustain friendships filled his life with love and happiness.
Phil is survived by his children, Patrick Sheehan (Michelle) and Michael Sheehan (Mara), and his cherished grandchildren, Bryson, Noel, Karoline, Nicholas, and Maximilian. He is also survived by his sisters, Joanna Worcester, Mary Lopez, and brother, Frank Sheehan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria, his parents, Edith and Frank Sheehan, and his sister Margaret.
Phil will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Memorial Service will be held February 16, 2025 at 1:30pm, Trinity Episcopal Church, 330 Ravenswood Ave., Menlo Park CA 94025, Reception following at Trinity Church.
